Joe Morgan was a rare combination of intelligence, aggressiveness, speed and power. At 5’ 7” in height and 150 pounds, “Little Joe” was one of the smallest number three hitters during his era, but he could single-handedly beat opposing teams with his multi-faceted skills. A terror on the base paths, Morgan topped the 40-steal plateau nine times during his 22-year career. The two-time National League MVP in 1975 and 1976 was a mainstay of Cincinnati’s “Big Red Machine” along with Pete Rose, Tony Perez, and Johnny Bench.
