Frankie Frisch Watercolor and Gouache on 100% cotton fiber paper

Price: $1,500.00

Frank Frisch, an all-around athlete at Fordham, jumped directly from college to the New York Giants. A favorite of Manager John McGraw’s, the extremely competitive Frisch was made team captain.  He rarely struck out and his fielding was superb. In 1926 when the Giants faded, Frisch was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals and had the unenviable task of replacing Rogers Hornsby at second base. He responded beautifully. In his first season with the Cards, Frisch hit .337 and finished second in MVP voting. From 1933 to 1938, Frisch was the Cardinals’ player-manager. Frisch played on eight pennant-winners in 19 seasons. A fine switch-hitter, Frisch compiled a run of 11 straight .300 seasons.
