Boojum was the nickname given to Negro League slugger Jud Wilson. It was the sound his line drives made when they hit the outfield walls. He played from 1922 until 1945. He was capable of playing all infield positions and some outfield. Though Negro League statistics are sketchy, Wilson is reported to have a .355 lifetime batting average. Satchel Paige identified Jud Wilson as one of the toughest hitters he ever faced. He was the starting third baseman for the first three East-West Negro League All-Star Games. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. This image displays his powerful upper body.
